I am the founder of Connection Through Compassion and the Gratitude Group. My primary goal is to use my existence to leave our Earth in a better state compared to when I was born into it. I am passionate about creating community, inspiring those around me, and growing into the best version of myself. Connection Through Compassion is the organization through which I can live out my passions, and I am excited to be a part of it!

What most excites me about Connection Through Compassion are the friendships and resulting community which has emerged from simply positively acknowledging the existence of strangers.Through letting people know they are valued by giving them a gift of positive affirmation, barriers are dissolved and a sense of belonging develops. I hope to contribute toward transforming humanity into one community.

From the moment I received my first Kindness Card, I knew I wanted to incorporate the practice into my life. I was at a show, keeping to myself while yearning to connect, when I met Schuyler and he handed me a card that said “I am grateful you are here”. It filled me with a warmth that carried my mood throughout the show. It quickly dawned on me that Kindness Cards were a crucial step in my journey.

I find immense value in my life from interacting with other people -- I am so often energized and enriched by it. However, I’m also shy. I’ve always had difficulty reaching out to people and connecting with them. Somewhere ingrained in me is this feeling that, by default, my presence in someone else’s space is a burden. This made it more comfortable to stay in my bubble and allow other people to remain in theirs. But I knew I was missing out on the deep, vibrant beauty of witnessing another person’s humanity -- their quirks, passions, flaws, perspectives, emotions, fears… all the things. Over my life I’ve increasingly come to recognize the true value of connection.

Giving a Kindness Card is a maximally unobtrusive way to enter another person’s space. It allows me to create the opportunity for further connection without placing any, real or perceived, burden on them. Sometimes it results in a conversation - many of which have changed my life for the better. But more often it just sends the simple message that I see them, I see their humanity and I recognize its beauty - and, more often than not, that’s all I really wanted to say.

I am truly excited to be apart of an organization geared towards encouraging other people to connect in this way. There is an immense amount of good to be done, both for yourself and for your community, in spreading kindness freely and openly. Kindness costs you nothing, but can be worth everything.

I am the Chief Operations Officer for Connection Through Compassion. Which, for now, means I do whatever needs doing. If you'd like to reach out to me, message me through Facebook or send me an Email.
